Our efforts and accomplishments are made possible with the help of a dedicated network of volunteers from academia, education, industry, and government professions. These individuals graciously donate their time and energy to support the advancement of education in rural India. The breadth of backgrounds and skill sets represented within our team helps us maximize the impact of our resources. However, we need additional motivated individuals to join us.

Please take advantage of this opportunity to make a tangible, near-term difference in the lives of students in India. We are always looking for people to get involved. Some of our current needs are :


CURRENT VOLUNTEER OPENINGS:


Winter Marketing Coordinator
(4 hrs/week, Oct - Jan)

Are you looking for a way to get involved in online fundraising in an exciting, entrepreneurial environment? We are looking for an individual who can take the best practices that we have culled over the last few months and put them into action for a winter campaign that reaches out to our online supporters, our grassroots network and the communities that support the work that we do.

Our Winter Marketing coordinator will work with our Social Media Director, our Communications Director and our PR associate from mid-October - January on creating a step by step fundraising campaign that integrates the online and offline. This person will craft the concept for an appealing campaign, create (with support of our web designer) an associated webpage on our site and a detailed social media plan. This person will also coordinate with our Grassroots development team on creating a plan to get the message out to our grassroots network.

Development Research Intern: (2 hours/week, Oct - Jan)

Are you interested in learning more about different funding streams while working for an organization with a fun, passionate organizational culture and entrepreneurial spirit? We are looking for a volunteer to help us research various funding avenues, specifically:

-Giving Circles
-Grant making organizations
-Family Foundations

We are looking for someone who is interested in exploring these opportunities online and possibly reaching out via phone and e-mail for first and follow up contact to gather information from mid-October to January 2010. The development research intern will collaborate with our Director of Grantwriting who currently heads up our writing team and make succinct write ups of their recommendations for what we as an organization should pursue.This person will get valuable development research experience and will have a voice in setting our organizational development strategy. The project is perfect for someone interested in gaining experience in this field or a taste of a development career. Press Packet Creator: (1 hr/week)

We are looking for an individual with a background in public relations or an interest in gaining such skills to join our dynamic team of volunteers to work on the creation of a press packet to be available for download from our website.

The volunteer would be responsible for culling information from our brochures and internal communications/presentations to create a one page information sheet with statistics about our organization. This individual would also be responsible for collecting photographs and other relevant media for inclusion in the packet. Some research on what makes an effective press packet would be involved. Grant Writer: (2 hours/week)

This person should have excellent communication written communication skills and a passion for our mission. No previous experience is necessary; we will provide the necessary training. Other opportunities: We have other volunteer opportunities with a variety of time commitments that range from spending a few hours helping to organize a fundraiser to helping spearhead one of our projects in India. Specifically, we also need to people with interest and/or experience in the following areas:

 

Fundraising:

  • Organize a local chapter
  • Organize local fundraising events
  • Solicit monetary or in-kind (books, computers) donations
  • Write grants
  • Organize our annual fund

Outreach:

  • College campus outreach
  • Corporate/non-profit/government outreach

Marketing:

  • Social Media
  • Graphic Design

Programs:

  • Create program evaluations

Write/edit ESL/IT curriculum
