Our Values

Focus on Quality Education in  Rural  India   We partner with existing rural public schools to help improve the quality of rural education in India,  classroom by classroom. We want to ensure that every student is receiving education that will prepare them for the world outside the classroom: for college, and for employment in India’s growing economy. By partnering with teachers in their actual classrooms and through providing support and on-going training, we work to ensure that students receive the quality of instruction and the support that they need to achieve their goals.

Energy Everyone at Nanubhai shares the same enthusiasm, passion and drive to make our vision for the future into a reality.  We are dedicated to raising the level of education in rural India. We are a dynamic, fresh community in which every voice is heard,  every idea is listened to, and initiative, excitement and compassion are the norm.

Sustainability We believe that long-term local viability of our programs is a priority. We ensure program sustainability in three ways:  first, our strong partnerships with local school leadership ensures that each school has a part in our shared vision for the future.  Secondly, our Leadership Development Program trains local teachers to become more effective, capable teachers and eventually, teacher mentors within the rural school community, ensuring that our programs can eventually be run completely locally. Lastly, our sliding scale fees for our one and multi-day teacher training seminars provide funds which support the development and expansion of our Leadership Development Program, putting those funds right back into the development of quality rural education for all students.

Scalability We are committed to bringing equitable education to larger and larger numbers of students in rural areas.  In pursuance of this, our Leadership Development Program grows local leaders for sustainable change: we support the development of their leadership skills so that they can in turn mentor and inspire other teachers to create similar change, allowing our programs to grow and expand completely locally.

Accountability We hold both ourselves and our schools accountable for the success of our programs. Our fellows closely monitor program quality and our school administrators hold our teachers accountable for producing improved results in the students.  A thorough internal and third party evaluation program holds us accountable for achieving our target impact.  We are continuously striving to improve rural education in India by examining our past performance and setting goals for our future.
